The Best of 90s Comedy: Part One

Written by Emily Rokke

The 90s was full of great entertainment and the movies were a great part of that. If you want to laugh, these three movies are a must.

Dumb and Dumber

This mid 90s comedy checks all the boxes when it comes to fun. Two friends go on a cross-country adventure. They are both good-hearted and fun but, and hence the name, they are truly and incredibly stupid. Case in point, some quotes from the movie, Dumb and Dumber.

  • “According to the map, we’ve only gone 4 inches.”
  • “How was your day?” “Not bad. Fell off the jet way again.”
  • “ No, none taken. You know what really chaps my ass thought? I spent my life savings turning my van into a dog. The alarm alone cost me two hundred.”
  • “I got robbed by an old lady on a motorized cart. I didn’t even see it coming.”

There’s Something About Mary

In There’s Something About Mary, a man gets to meet up with his high school dream girl, again. His high school date with her was a disaster but that doesn’t stop him. Thirteen years later, Ted is still in love with Mary so he tracks her down. The investigator he uses to find Mary falls for her too, but in the end Ted makes his way back into her life, one funny scene after the next.

Home Alone

This hilarious movie is a Christmas favorite to so many. Kevin is left at home after the whole family, including extended relatives, leave for a big trip to France. It isn’t until the plane is in flight that his mom and dad realize what has happened. Whoops! Kevin is truthfully just fine on his own. He cooks and cleans for himself, does the grocery shopping, and even fights off robbers, all with ease. His mom spends the whole movie trying to get home to him and in the end, him and his family all spend the holiday together.

There are so many more 90s movies that you will love, and laugh at. Which of these is your favorite?
